A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Dave’s life was defined by love, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to those closest to him. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him.
Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Susan Maxwell, whose life was deeply intertwined with his through decades of shared experiences, devotion, and partnership. His legacy continues through his children—Kevin, Sarah, and Elaine—and through his nine cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy. Family was the center of Dave’s world, and he invested deeply in creating meaningful memories, including thoughtfully planned family vacations and countless special moments together.
Born and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta, Dave demonstrated remarkable academic promise early in life, earning a significant scholarship and going on to study Science and Biochemistry at the University of Alberta. It was there he met Susan, beginning a lifelong journey together. His professional career was distinguished and impactful, including his work with Syncrude Canada Ltd., where he contributed to foundational research projects and later served as a senior scientist. His expertise also extended to consulting work on major initiatives such as the Envirofuels plant in Edmonton.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dave was known for his gentle nature, intelligence, and generosity. He was someone others could rely on—always ready to listen, to help, and to offer thoughtful guidance. His warm personality, bright smile, and genuine kindness will be deeply missed by friends, colleagues, and extended family alike.
